Add a matte finish to your Jesmonite artworks with this UV-resistant Acrylic Sealer that provides resistance against water and stains. Suitable for use artworks made with Jesmonite AC100 and AC730.

Apply evenly with a brush, foam roller or spray. For best results, apply two thin coats, diluting only the first with 10-20% water. You may also add Jesmonite Liquid Pigments to the sealer to create colour washes for a patina effect or to artificially age casts. Re-coating is required at  6-10 year intervals or once the coating wears off.

The Acrylic Sealer is also available in Gloss finish. Water based, non-toxic.

Application:

Acrylic Sealer can also be diluted with water and pigmented using the Jesmonite Liquid Pigments to create colour washes to add a patina or to artificially age casts.

Acrylic Sealer should be applied with a high quality brush or with a clean high quality dense foam roller evenly across the surface. Ensure that all surfaces are clean, dry, and free from any grease or oil.

We recommend for best results that two coats of Acrylic Sealer should be applied onto low porosity surfaces such as AC100, with the first coat being diluted with 10 – 20% water. Diluting the first coat will aid the chemical bonding process of the Acrylic Sealer. The second coat is applied once the initial diluted coat is touch dry.  Do not allow the first coat to dry completely before applying the second coat.

In principle the application of several thin coats is preferable to one thick coat.

Acrylic Sealer goes a long way, therefore small quantities can cover large areas – do not over apply the product and ensure you work with small doses to control the process.

Dependent upon prevailing conditions, products sealed with Jesmonite Sealer will require re-coating at 6 – 10 year intervals.
