ArtCast™ is the latest addition to our Resin Play family. It is our most affordable resin designed for crafters and artists who require a cost-effective solution for their projects. It has the closest properties to HeatResist™, except that it has a slightly stronger odour and is not recommended to be used as a clear coating.

ArtCast™ is an optically clear epoxy resin system with excellent UV resistance.  This resin is suitable for shallow castings of small objects such as jewellery, coasters and keychain pendants. Due to its low viscosity and long working time of up to 90 minutes (depending on size), it has excellent bubble release.  It cures very rigid and is highly durable, with a temperature resistance of 70 to 80°C. It is solvent-free, which makes it safe for incidental contact with food once fully cured. This resin has a mild odour.

This resin can be readily pigmented by the addition of any resin pigments sold in our online store. Adding a drop of resi-BLAST will aid in creating cells and lacing effects.

Key Advantages

  • Crystal clear clarity
  • Low viscosity
  • Long working time
  • Great bubble release
  • UV-resistant
  • VOC-free, solvent-free
  • Safe for food contact

Recommended for

  • Shallow casting (up to 20mm) of small objects that require hardness

Specifications

Note: Due to its chemical properties, ArtCast™ is recommended for casting only, as a phenomenon known as amine blush may occur if it is used as a clear coating. Amine blush may appear as a cloudy or cell-like cluster film on the surface of your cured resin. If you require a resin for clear coating, we recommend using ArtCoat™ or Non-Toxic 2-in-1™.

Shelf Life

When stored under dry and cool conditions in sealed packaging, the resin has a shelf life of 2 years. Once opened, the shelf life is 1 year. However, resin does not actually expire. When it is reaching the end of its shelf life, it simply oxidises (turns yellow). Oxidised resin can still be used for pigmented resin pieces.
