ArtCoat™ is our favourite resin to play with when creating seascape resin art and white sea foam. Due to its high viscosity, it allows patterns and cells to hold much better and stay in place, as compared to other resins which may be too fluid and runny. This is also a good choice for art pouring / coating if you require a resin with a slightly longer working time as compared to our all-time favourite Non-Toxic 2-in-1™.
ArtCoat™ is an optically clear epoxy laminating resin formulated with excellent UV stability. This high viscosity resin is perfect for resin art pouring, seascape resin art, coating / sealing of artworks and doming of small items. It can be used on many surfaces such as canvas, metal, wood, concrete, glass, etc. It has a working time of up to 40 minutes (depending on size). ArtCoat™ is ASTM certified non-toxic. It can also be used as a food-safe coating once fully cured. This resin has a low odour.
This resin can be readily pigmented by the addition of any resin pigments sold in our online store. Adding a drop of resi-BLAST will aid in creating cells and lacing effects. You may also create realistic white sea foam with our lacing white pigment.
Note: Due to its high viscosity, ArtCoat™ is not suitable for casting as it will trap a lot of bubbles. If you require a resin with great bubble release for casting, we recommend using Non-Toxic 2-in-1™, or you may also use ArtCast™ or HeatResist™ if you require your casts to be rigid.
When stored under dry and cool conditions in sealed packaging, the resin has a shelf life of 2 years. Once opened, the shelf life is 1 year. However, resin does not actually expire. When it is reaching the end of its shelf life, it simply oxidises (turns yellow). Oxidised resin can still be used for pigmented resin pieces.
