Jesmonite AC730 is a rapid setting acrylic polymer modified cementitious composite.

The system is designed for glass reinforced decorative structures, and can also be used for small castings (see Technical Data sheet).

The product contains a fine decorative aggregate and powder pigments, carefully controlled to give a consistent decorative surface finish after treatment with a proprietary brick cleaner or acid etch. It is supplied as two components, a water-based acrylic liquid, and a blended powder, with a mix ratio of 5:1 (Powder to Liquid).

Jesmonite liquid and powder are best mixed with our high-shear mixing blade (fixed onto a hand drill). Mixing Jesmonite with a blade will help to reduce the formation of air bubbles and ensure that the mix is smooth and free from lumps.

You have a working time of approximately 20 minutes, depending on size and complexity, the cast should be left in the mould for a further 2½ – 3½ hours and achieves over 90% of its ultimate strength in the first 24 hours.

You may extend your working time by adding a small amount of Jesmonite retarder (for AC730) to the mixture.

Etching is recommended to expose the fine decorative aggregates on the cementitious surface. You may use our hydrochloric acid to do so. The acid removes the cement rich film from the surface of objects moulded in AC730 to produce a stone finish. When diluted with water it can also be used as a cleaner for removing marks from AC730.

AC730 is available in eight stone finishes: Old Terracotta, Yellow Sandstone, Bathstone, Portland Stone, Natural Stone, White Marble, Charcoal Black and Silver Grey Granite.

It is sold in a 6kg set, comprising of 5kg powder and 1kg liquid.

We recommend sealing and waterproofing your Jesmonite artworks with our non-toxic food grade beeswax sealer, especially if you are planning to use them as coasters. You can also use Jesmonite's Penetrating sealer or Flexiguard sealer. You may get our thick silicone moulds specially designed for casting Jesmonite coasters.

Please take note that you will need a weighing scale to accurately measure the amount of Jesmonite you need to use, which is not included in the kit.

Please refer to this user guide for tips on working with AC730.
